When the first settlers reached Iceland in the latter half of the 9th century, forests covered between 25 and 40% of the landscape. However, intensive deforestation quickly decimated the forests, reducing their coverage to as little as 0.5% by the early 20th century. Damned Vikings. Anyway enjoy!
